Resources / Starting points

Questions worth asking early.

A few practical prompts to prepare for an AI or technology decision. Use them to make the first conversation more specific.

01 / Before an AI pilot

Define the work and the baseline.

  • Which task are you trying to improve, and who does it today?
  • How much time does it take, and where do errors occur?
  • What data would the pilot need, and who can authorize its use?
  • What result would justify continuing? What would make you stop?

02 / Before choosing a tool

Test it against your constraints.

  • How will it fit into the existing workflow?
  • Who reviews its output and handles exceptions?
  • What happens when the tool is unavailable or produces an incorrect result?
  • What will it cost to operate, support, and eventually replace?

03 / Before an architecture review

Bring evidence of how it works.

  • A current diagram showing the system boundaries and data flows.
  • The decision you need to make and the options under consideration.
  • Known constraints, incidents, and unresolved risks.
  • The people responsible for operating and changing the system.
